Childrens trailers advice please

I was thinking about getting a child trailer for my 2 1/2 year old. I have been looking at the Adventure AT3 Childrens 2 Seat and also the Adventure AT1 Childrens 1 Seat.

As it would be only used for one child, do users think a one seat or a two seat be ideal. As well as on road cycling I will also be using it for canal rides and some mild off road rides.

At the moment I have only really looked at the Adventure range, are there any other company's that you know off or would recommend?

I also am unable to find a child age limit on the trailers. So what sort of age do you think they go up to?

Many thanks.

 Just came across your post.

Did you get an AT3 in the end? If so what do you thing about it. Just been reading that burley's seem to the name, but quite a big different in price.

I've got an AT3 and it is fine and good value for money too.

Burley's are very expensive. My advice would be:

If you only use it to take the kid(s) to nursery/park/out on a sunday afternoon ride; sort of thing then the AT3 is perfect and there's no need to spend more money.

If however, you are planning some family cycle touring holidays around France or Holland then perhaps a better model might be a good idea.

Just bought an AT1 and very happy with it. Very well made piece of kit imo.

Mr Arallsopp of this parish has an AT3, perhaps you should pop him a pm asking for his opinion.

We had a Chariot Chauffeur for many years, and were very happy with it (2 kids).
If I only had 1 kid I would be tempted by a 1 child model as it would be narrower, however with 2 spaces you can also transport his/her playfriend !!
The limit on trailers is more by weight than age, however the child needs enough head space !! (our kids were on their own bikes before they reached the limit of the trailer.)

We got a Spokey Joe trailer for 2 kids which is superb. it has a "boot" on as well to put a bag in. Kids are 4 and 3 and can just about fit together in it but it is slightly narrower than a Birley. The other thing to look at is how does it fit to your bike. The spokey Joe uses a clamp that attaches round the frame itself whereas a lot have an attachment that stays on the bike bolted to the axle nut (no good for QR wheels). I have towed ours behind a MTB off road and behind a race bike and no problems with either.

the AT3 has a system like this and I use it without problems using Q/R rear wheel - it actually works better with Q/R

I have a Halford own brand One and i cannot fault it, it can take two children belted or One in central postition (also belted )
They do not have an age limit but a weight limit.
Look on Ebay for some bargins, especially " local pick up only ".
Had some great fun taking my Two girls ( 2 and 4 ) out for adventures on my local disussed railway line trail.
However i have never used it on the road, as i don't feel safe doing so.
