Anyone got one? What do you think to it?
Requirements are for a petrol auto estate/MPV. No diesels or 4x4 as we only cover circa 5k miles/year, mostly Mrs.Pm doing short town journeys. There will now some infrequent trips of an hour or so to DS at University (hence estate) plus maybe an occasional bike.
Mrs Pm also treats any vehicle we've ever owned like a fridge. Something food is sometimes put in (and forgotten) but otherwise never thought about until it stops working, or starts to smell.

If the estate bit s just for Uni removals, would it be easier to get a small car and then just hire a large car/van on removal day?
Hmm. It's a thought. It will be replacing an Alfa 156 sportwagon, so I was thinking of something of a similar size, but it's mostly driven by my wife as I work away a lot.
SWMBO has spoken - it will be an auto, which is why I asked about the lacetti as a lot of them seem to be autos. In the dozen or so smaller local dealers I cycled round last week choice in autos was quite limited. One of them told me he buys all the small ones he can as he can always turn them round quickly.

Doesn't seem to be much close to Hull, and I don't know your budget so just a guess on the same price as older Lacetti estates. All within 100 miles of Hull, and less than £1500:

Fancy a Beemer? Or a Subaru? Volvo? Ford Mondeo? VW Golf? Ford Focus?

The Subaru would be my choice from the above if it wasn't for the towbar fitted which would make me wary.

@Brandane Cheers, but thats where I was looking when the lacetti popped up. I do realise it is basic and probably a bit rough, but thats not really a problem considering its use by my wife. It's a fridge to her - food goes into it for a bit then comes out again, and as long as it works... Any car she drives for more than a week ends up looking like the inside of the garden shed. I'd be on a bike for most of what she uses it for. When I want to drive something nice I can always get MY Alfa Spider out of the garage .

Was thinking £2-3k for a cash buy, lifting it a bit:
VAG group also throws up a Skoda Roomster tiptronic. Looks like it would manage a Uni run ok and have a better bike carrying potential. I may well go take a look tomorrow.
Anyone know if there is any etiquette on trying to get a bike in the back of a car on a test drive?
