No ride today but decided to give the N+1 a wipedown, general checkover and lube....
Lucky I did really!

There's a slight problem with the chain on the road bike
Could have been painful or dangerous....

That chain looks quite new. Send it back to the retailer?

(And yes - a "coat of looking over" is always worthwhile.)

Yep, It is fairly new. I'm going to email them about it and see what they say.

Interesting how the crack starts quite close to the fancy diagonal stamping. I'd choose something else that doesn't have uneccessary 'styling'.

Also, is that a secondary crack growing downwards where the primary crack crosses the second (left most) fancy diagonal stamping.

If yes then diagonal stamping looks like decidedly bad news.

I can only see the one crack. I actually found it by running the chain through my hand (to see that it's clean. I felt it rather than saw it)

I have a fairly new KMC chain that some of the rollers have rusted to buggery on where as others are fine. It is not even slightly stretched but it is going to go back to CRC this weekend. It is a crap chain so will stick to Shimano in the future.
