Anyone recommend a decent one that's also reasonably cheap? I was looking at the Topeak Joe Blow Max II and the LifeLine High Pressure Pump on Wiggle, both around £20.

There's quite a few 1 star reviews for both, is this just people that don't know what they're doing, or are the pumps horribly inconsistent?

Joe Blow I've been told is good, saying that I got my s'h for a tenner, a Bontrager one

I have brought in for colleagues a couple of Lezyne floor pumps now. Both have peformed amiably so my vote is for their pumps. You pay a bit more but. Oh BTW Evans Cycles have a special on Topeak at the moment.

The Joe Blow's always seem to come highly recommended and it's one I'll lean towards if and when mine ever gives up the ghost.

I got my track pump from Decathlon, (their own brand) and IIRC it was around £20 also. I've been using it for several years and it's never missed a beat so I'd recommend those as well.

I've got a Joe Blow and it's nice. But I also borrowed Edinburgh Bike Coops Revolution pump once and that was just as good as the Joe Blow.

I have one of these from Decathlon. No problems in three years.

I've got a Lifeline one and it works fine. The only thing that could be a bit awkward about it is that the airlock seal is a twist-on affair instead of a lever. If you're cack-handed about it you might end up bending the presta valve head as you twist it. But in practice, it isn't a problem. I wonder why the reviewers were were downrating it.

Park do a nice track pump. The stand is perhaps a little too small (but, then again, I've got big feet), but it pumps like a good'un. About eighteen quid.

Lots of decent pumps on the market for £20 upwards, but like spending a bit more on tyres, you only notice the benefits of the better products once you have used them.
As an example a pro mechanic would not be happy with a £20 pump, for about £40 you should have something that will work better, have a more accurate gauge and last.
