Cheap light solution

Over the last year poundland have been selling some terrible bike lights, which can break in a matter of minutes and have one of the worst mounts I've ever seen.

However, they also sell torches, which although not amazing do seem to function okay as a bike light if you have the appropriate mount. Much more robust than their bike counterparts, although I will admit they are a little flimsy.

Just a couple of things about this torch. Firstly, it's made of metal. It's pretty small and fits easily into those cheap push based torch mounts you can buy on dealextreme. The weakpoint is the thing you put the batteries in which is similar to the battery set up on the cheapy bike lights they have in poundland.

Lastly, it's looks to be about the same brightness as the poundland bike lights, infact it's probably just the same LEDs in a different housing and without the flashing function.

Additionally, these things are useful to throw at people and cars you don't like. Not that I've ever done that myself but almost did when some scrote threw a load of rubbish directly and purposefully toward my direction whilst I was coming up to a junction. Seriously, one of those things would easily smash a windscreen are easy to remove and they're cheap too so are easy to replace... rant over.

Great lights solution imo anyway. I've got two mounted on my bike, will take a picture.

Its a pity about their bike lights, I saw them the other day and was thinking that no chav/ned should have an excuse for not having lights at that price but perhaps the do

I'll maybe investigate their torches if Tescos 3w bursts.

Lidl have been doing 3w cree LED torches complete with flashing mode for about a tenner from time to time. Slightly better than the 3w cree Tesco lamps, slightly better beam spread. F'in bright.
