Have just taken up cycling and I am at present riding an old mountain bike, but will want to upgrade soon to either a road bike or maybe a hybrid. I don't know anything about bikes, but like the look of this...http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Charge_Mixer_2009/5360039102/ What do you reckon?

Looks OK. Could get something simpler and cheaper but it's up to you. if you get it then make sure you buy a couple of decent locks or keep it indoors at it will be a magnet for thieves

Looks like it doesn't have bosses for racks and mudguards, so not a good candidate for commuter or bike otherwise for use in inclement weather or carrying stuff..

Apart from the hub gear, it's not much bike for the money.

In the flesh, as it were, I've found Charge bikes to be disappointingly heavy for how much they cost.

Its because your paying for the make more then anything.
I wouldnt go for anything thats Charge. I would say id go for the Charge bar tape, but i got some and its absolute shite to put on, and if you dont have it on right it looked shite.
Oh, and not sure if it has mudguard holes, so if you want mudguards it might not be the best.
The Charge Tap has mudguard holes though, but it doesnt have disc brakes, if you really want those.

Thanks for the input, as I said I know nothing about bikes and information from people like you prevents people like me from making mistakes! I will go and have a think, do a bit of research and come up with something else. Thanks again
