I have had my ultegra and 105 mix groupset, including the triple front chainset, moved to a carbon frame. The frame geometry doesnt permit the smallest cog to be used, so i am using the two outer cogs which is fine most of the time.
However i am looking for 'get outta jail card' for those nasty hills and consider changing to a compact. The current outer ring is 52, def not 50.
My questions are will i need a new shifter for a compact?
If i just buy a compact do i need a new chain? Will any shimano compact suffice i have a 9 speed rear mech.
Have i overlooked anything??
