Should be ok. By a curious coincidence, I have a mountain bike with flat bars which I'd like to roadify and fit with drops. If you'd be interested in a straight swap - my bars, stem, brake and gear levers for yours - PM me and we'll do a deal.

assuming that both are a-head 1 1/8" or quill stem 1" of course…

Good point. My MTB is a very old Kona with a quill stem, but whether it's 1" or larger, I'm not sure. But failing that, we can just swap the bars. I'll measure it when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the replies. I have down tube shifters and was planning on keeping it like that for the time being attached a couple of pics to whow the stem etc. I think its 1".
