I have a set of Mavic Helium wheels on a bike that I recently bought. The bike was set up for sprints and has a cassette 11 - 23.

I want to put 13 -28's on to the wheels but have been told that I need to change the wheels because Campag don't make 13 -28's.

I have been on ebay and found a number of them! Am i being naive, will any cassette fit my Mavic Heliums?

I am new to the sport and am "finding my way around". Any advice appreciated.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Be careful , campag has a different shaped freehub from shimano /sram so you need a campag compatible cassette, and tool to take it off i would assume.
Not sure what speed you need...

Campag certainly make a 13-29 and IIRC BBB make a Campag compatible 13-28.
You'll probably want a longer chain for the bigger cassette and - just possibly - a different rear derailleur. The wheels themselves don't care what size cassette you put on, although as cybernight says the splines are different between Campag and Shimano/SRAM.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
If your wheels have a Campag cassette, only a Campag or Campag compatible, cassette will fit. NOT Shimano or SRAM. (As posted above) BBB and Miche make compatible cassettes. You will need to match the 'speed' of your existing set up (eg. 10 speed, or 9 speed etc.), as your shifters will not work with a different number of sprockets. I doubt that you will need to change the rear derailleur mech. but it is possible as you are going beyond the recommended range for a short cage mech (max 26 teeth at the rear IIRC). I use a 10 speed 12-27 Miche cassette with a 2007 Veloce mech with no problems. +1 to longer chain, cassette tool (must be Campag compatible) and chainwhip. (NB Campag 11 tooth cassettes use a different lockring to 12 T up, but Miche and BBB cassettes will come with lockrings anyway - not always the case with Campag).
