Hi,
I have a 1983 Rossin, the gearing has been updated previously and is now 8 speed, 52-42 and 12-21.
I'd like to change the rear cassette to give me a chance of getting up hills (I'm no spring chicken) and have seen a Campagnola Record 13-26 set at chain reaction, will this set be a like for like swap?

Rob

As long as it's an eight speed it will be like for like. I can't recall Campag ever changing the design of the freehub.

If your lowest gear is 42/ 21 I am not surprised you can't get up hills!

A Rossin of that era has presumably been cold-set to open up the OLN to 130. You might find a 9 speed will fit, take the same chain and, if you are on friction changers, be compatible with your changer. It might be easier to get a decent range in 9 speed.

I will probably try the 13-26 first, I do have an old 52-39 chainset that I can swap to if needed later. It is all Chorus kit so I would rather hang on to as much as possible and the new rear cassette is Record so will work well with it.

Thanks for your help.
