Hi
I have an old (2007 ish i think) aptonia (from Decatholon) HRM watch that needs a new battery.
I've not used it for ages but i want to have a play around with it while im on the turbo...

Anyhow took it too a well known shoe repair place begins with Ti... and got told..

"We don't change those", Why not, "cos its a heart rate monitor", ok and thats a problem because, "cos it's a heart rate monitor"

Now am i missing something here or is it just a case of unscrewing the 4 tiny screw on the back replacing the battery and doing it back up ? (I don't need it to be waterprood - Rule 42)

you could change it yourself?

Strange that.
I took my Son's HRM watch to 'Ti...'
"No problem", he said. Undone the screws, popped in a new battery and only charged me for the battery.
All done in a couple of minutes.
You must have caught a manager on a bad day.

My ex had a battery changed in the jewellers and they warned her it might not be waterproof afterwards - apparently this is normal. She forgot and wore it swimming and it duly leaked. I took it apart to dry it - no o-ring fitted - "might not be waterproof" - no shoot Sherlock !

I've never paid to have a battery changed!

i ended up popping into a little watch place near Liverpool St Station, charged me £10, but got it done and i had a nice chat with the woman doing it so was probably worth the £5-6 Labour charge :-)
