I just replaced a FSA pro gossamer chainset double with a Shimano 5600 double but the chainline is different. The shimano sits closer in towards the BB.

Does anyone know the chainline of these two chainsets? If they are the same perhaps I'm missing some spacers or something for the Shimano?

As far as I know both these chainsets are the two piece style with the axle fixed to the drive side crank arm with an external cup type BB, correct? This should mean that as long as it is installed with the correct BB that it should be around 43.5mm or thereabouts. You can just measure it yourself to the centreline of the BB/seatpost

OK, so indeed, both my chainsets have a chainline of 43.5 mm BUT although I haven't actually measured them both, the Shimano chainline is definitely 1-2 mm less than the FSA even though they are both quoted at 43.5 in the spec - how can this be?
