chain slipping

Hiya hope you can help?

My chain has started skipping and jumping so I asked the question at the lbs and was advised to assist the cable which I have done I am too have sorted the problem but the adjuster is maxed out to tight is that right and is it ok too leave out that adjusted?

All advice welcome that thanks

No. Chase the cable back to the Allen key or nut clamp. You have cable stretch. It's dead easy to fix. Check out some on line tutorials from park or others, google 'adjusting rear bicycle gears'. This will explain.

It's actually dead simple if you think about it. A new bikes cables will stretch a little at first.

Its Ok, but you should rewind it back and take up the slack by loosing the pinch bolt on the derailleur, pulling the cable through and re tighting the bolt.
Then use the adjuster to fine tune the gear change.

Cables don't stretch. Its ferrules not properly seated in cable guides when installed. When installing give the outers a good tug to make sure they are seated properly. Do not try this on carbon frames if they have cable guides you might pop them off.

Thanks for all the advice will have a go at the weekend the bike is still quite new so I think is probably just a bedding in thing will let you know how I get on lol
