Hi all,

chains been slipping a lot - so I figured it could be my rear cassette which has done about 4000 miles and I was looking for an excuse to change to a better ratio, So I upgraded that and added a new chain, but its still slipping. Not as much as it was but it still is.

So, no im thinking that the problem is probably the front chainrings on my crackset?

is there another element that could be causing it? Perhaps the rear derailer

If you gears are properly indexed, then the only other thing that could cause the slipping is the chain rings. Does it happen on both/all your chain rings, or just one?

its all accurately index'ed - I re-did that last night with the new cassette, rear derailleur moving and changing gears very smoothly. So I suspect then I need some new chain rings.

Borked freehub ?

ah....crumbs. It could be. I recently changed the bearings in it as it was grinding. This was a cheaper option that buying a new one. Could be connected to the problem.

In that case, Ill install a spare wheel I have with the new cassette and see how I get on.
