Just busted an old one I've had for years.

The Topeak multi-tool in the saddle bag has one for out on the road, but I'd rather have something chunkier for use at home. I've been mostly been replacing old and knackered tools with Park stuff, but £30 for a CT-3 seems a lttle bit steep, until you see there are some out there at over £150.

Any suggestions? Must be able to deal with any kind of chain (except maybe 11 speed) as the family bike fleet includes 6, 7, 8, and 9 speed Shimano and 10 speed Campag, and 3/32" fixed and 1/8" S/S.

Ive had one of these for about 20 year . This one looks a bit different. I also have a Topeak multi tool for 7 year with no problems until I borrowed it a freind and ask them not to break it. Yep it got broke . though I think the T opeak is good enough

The one that broke is just like that Cyclo one.
Didn't spot the pin had mushroomed slightly so it wasn't moving, gave it some welly and snapped off the tabs. Doh!

I feel this is a daft question but here goes .........

Is a chain rivet extractor tool the same as the things I've seen described as a 'chain breaker' in various other threads?

I had to buy a chain breaker this weekend as the one on my multi-tool was pants. I went for the Park CT5 at £13.50 from Evans Cycles. Absolutely brilliant, got a really stuck pin out in about 30 seconds and has a solid feel so should last along time.
A little trick is that Evans Cycles will price match their own online price in store, easiest way is to take a print out of the web page and show it to the staff in store.
