Hi Guys,by neglecting my chain oiling/changing dutys i have worn out my chain/ring and cassette,i managed to find a chain and cassette online by the part numbers on the back,cassette was a 8-speed hg 50(hyper glide) and chain was a kmc 8-speed,was hoping not to have worn the chainrings out but no such luck,they are on a shimano triple 52/42/30 with SG A 52,SG A 42 and SG A 30 on the back of each relevant ring,also has 9s/8s on one of them,have searched online but must be doing something wrong as cannot find any,i know they are shimano but shimano what?The bike is a claud butler hybrid levante,about six years old and is my daily commuter,25 miles a day and never chainged the chain,oh the shame!:shy:

Just need to measure the BCD, that's the distance between the chainring holes. I suspect it'll be 110mm but AASHTA;

Watch out with buying a complete triple chainset I brought a shimano triple chainset from a shop on Ebay and then found that the bottom ring rubbed the frame ( the old one was shimano as well so I thought they would match !)I then had to work out which bottom bracket I needed in order to send the chainset away from the frame and realign with the front changer still worked out very cheap but did give me some grief and luckily this was not on my work bike so I had the time to wait for parts. In my opinion if you can find some chain rings cheap go for that option you will be able to change them easily and be back on the bike in an hour or so.

Hi

I had a 2006 levante for four years and so prob had the same bike. I changed to a 50/39/30 chainset after a couple of years and that was fine, obviously different gearing. Point is any triple should work.

Shame i just saw this as merlin cycles were doing an ultegra triple for 75 quid last week, down from 280!

Stu

Ps, i think my levante was a cracking bike.

Usually Shimano chainset model code is on the inside surface of the crank arms, something like FC-xxxx. I agree it is unlikely to be cheaper to replace all the rings. To replace the whole chainset you should pick one that matches the existing BB (unless it is better to change it at the same time) and the front mech (for chainline and profile).

Ordered Chainrings from ribble just after my first post,they where 130 pcd for the outer two and 74mm for the inner for shimano and guess what they have sent me an 130mm outer and 74mm inner for shimano but why they thought i would need a 135 pcd middle ring for campagnolo i don't know:cry::crazy:
