If you're not finicky just use chain saw oil, as suggested so often on these forums.

yes well we have a chain saw so do you mean the oil for the 2 stroke mix petrol for the engine or do you mean some oil for the chainsaw chain?

Go ahead and work that one out for yourself ..
sorry i don't use the chainsaw my self it's my dad's!
i just run about picking the logs up and chucking them in the trailer and clearing up after him!
is it the bar oil?
or are they the same think? :wacko:

I have been using engine oil for years. I invested in a cheap oil can with a flexible nozzle that squirts a drop or two when you push the lever. I am currently using Ford 5/30 because my current car doesn't use it - but my last one did........I have about 4 pints left, so shouldn't need to buy any more oil for a few years yet! My Grandfather used to oil his old Rudge with engine oil and that kept running smoothly for decades. Use the Mickle method to ensure that excess oil and dirt dont mix into a grinding paste.
