Following a snapped chain on my sons cycle which resulted in a two hour walk. I decided it was time to invest in some spare chain links for us both.

Toddled off to the LBS and told him I needed a power type link for an 8 speed chain, which was no problem. He sorted out a Sigma Sport one, for my sons bike.
I asked for one to fit a Shimano 105 10 speed. He told me that Shimano only recommend a spare pin but that wouldn't solve a problem if the side plate broke and they didn't stock anything of the SRAM or KMC type links that would fit my chain.
I thought no problem I'll find one on the internet. But I can't! What power link can I buy, if any, that will fit my Shimano 105 10 speed.

I wouldn't bother.

Even if you could get one it would be less hassle to replace the chain with something like a KMC which comes with a powerlink. Shimano chains are not highly rated anyway KMC or SRAM are much better.

A KMC listed on the Ribble site -

Thanks for the replies.
I take your points about qualities of chain Smokin Joe and when I come to replace the chain completely I will get a different one to Shimano. I only wanted to buy a 'get me home' emergency link and not a permanent link for repeated on/off for cleaning etc.

I will probably send for the KMC link from Sprockets. If that will do the trick Thanks for the link Andrew.
