I am reading a cycle repair manual,Cycle cleaning,it says remove both wheels,
it says place a chain holder in the rear dropout to keep the chain tight while the rear wheel is out.,
This allows the chain to run freely so the bike can be cleaned thoroughly.
Are chain Holders any good, and where would i be able to purchase one?:smile::tongue:

Here is one from CRC - Pedros chain keeper - you can also get ones which have a full length spindle - useful when transporting bike with wheels removed. (you can get ones for the front fork too - without the chain support, obviously). As for using it when cleaning the bike, I find it's almost more trouble than it's worth - I tend to just put a rag over the chainstay when I remove the wheel. Not an essential piece of kit IMO.

Quite right too.

I don't use it for cleaning as it takes long enough anyway and I don't need any more excuses to fuss.
