I'm 62 and take my pension lump sum shortly and will be buying a luxury bike. I already own:

Monoc Concept - 12 years old now used as run around to shops etc. Rack, guards, panniers etc.

Dolan Dual - 6 years old. Great bike now doing a wonderful job as my winter bike. Love it.

Carbon tourer - 2 years old bespoke build as a stop gap club run and touring bike but really intended for touring. Really does the job on tour.

Luxury bike - still thinking but after months of reading reviews, chats with my LBS etc. I'm heading towards the Cervelo C3 with Shimano 105 and discs.

Good choice or not? Positives and negatives please.

All depends what kind of riding you do and how you define a 'luxury' bike. There are a lot of bikes out there which do what the C3 does, some cost more, some cost less.

Very good frame- not seen any reviews of the C3 but the higher spec C5 got a lot of praise. You are paying a lot extra for the frame though. You could get a Tripster ATR v2 with an Ultegra build for that money, or only a little more.
