If I recall did Cavendish not crash in the TdF 2007 in the prologue when it started in London when a woman stepped out in front of him , and then when he was slipstreaming a lift back into the peleton behind the team car, an over zealous official not knowing the protocol stopped him ruining his chances for going for green.

I don't think that would have made much difference in terms of him going for green. He wasn't fast enough, experienced enough or well supported enough in 07.

Yes! He spat his dummy quite a long way as I recall. And most of McEwan's wins were of the stealthy variety.
