Cause of blowout?

Hi all. I had a rear blowout today, luckily in the last couple of yards of my ride, coming down the drive. I'm running Schwalbe Kojaks, 700x35, with the rear at about 80psi (they're rated to 90psi). The sidewall had split a couple of cm widthwise, and there was a bullet shaped hole in the inner about 3mm in diameter:

Other than that, the rims are in good nick with the tape covering the spokes well. The drive itself is quite a washboard, which I guess caused it to go when it did. Anyhow it's my first blown tyre and one is enough. I guess my main question is, this a failing of the inner which has gone on to blow the outer or visa versa?

I would guess you've clipped something which has p'tured the tyre leading to the blow out.

Yep, I'm overthinking it probably. I googled the Kojaks a bit and the sidewall is supposedly pretty flimsy (at 330g they are very light for a high volume tyre). The drive is made of some plastic meshing around 10cm deep. Inspecting it, some of this has broken off leaving chunks - I guess one could have ripped the side.

/edit ....and I take it, sidewall damage = the bin and it's not a job for a bit of duct tape?

I doubt if I would ride it with the sidewall damage unless it was almost new and I thought I could glue it somehow. If I did try it I would blow it up to max and leave it overnight and observe it closely before I tried riding on it.

I'm just gonna get a new one. It'd be playing on my mind all the time I was on the bike.
