I'm thinking of going for the basic wired one. Anybody got one. Can anyone offer any alternative recommendations?

Thanks in advance, wise ones...

Got it, works nicely.... urrr... sorry, can't say much more about it... unless you have a specific question.

I have the strada cadence - apparently it replaced the astrale 8. I love it, really nice little computer. Have to use wired computers on the 'bent, otherwise my legs block the signal.

Got one. Worked fine until I left the bike out in the rain a few times and the bracket contacts corroded. Now I have to fiddle with it during every other ride because the display keeps going back to zero. No amount of scraping the contacts with my pen knife seems to make any difference.

It's a natty little thing though. I'd buy it again.

A dab of Dow Corning DC4 (Silicone Grease) on the contacts should go some way to preventing the above....

Alternative recommendations ? Get the wireless one. Had mine since April and not a moment's bother with it.

Yeah this has been my biggest dilemma. I've heard they're less responsive and have chunkier bits. Am I talking nonsense?

Can you not just whip 'em off like lights?

Bigger? The wireless is a tiny, dinky little thing. The mount is just that standard newish cateye screw thing where you turn it and it pulls the plastic through, same as lights. The magnet is small and the sensor on the forks is also smaller than the other speedos I've had.

As for responsiveness I don't know but it doesn't even suffer (much) interference from overhead tram lines.

If you have doubts I'll take photos for you (a waste of time imho).

That's okay. Have you had to change your batteries yet? Does it fly through them?

No I haven't. The batteries are not hard to change (unlike some speedos) and are cr2032/16s I forget which, so easy to get hold of.

You might just have swayed me. No one else seems to be arguing against you either.

Still on the same batteries that it came with back in April, but changing them looks a doddle.

I'm not worried about the difficulty, was just wondering about the frequency. I think I may have a winner here, cheers.
