Hi I bought a bike some time ago which came with a Cateye EL-320 light, the mount looks just like the pic below. But for the life of me I have been unable to figure out how to loosen the mount from the handlebars. I have tried twisting the knob looking thing anti-clockwise, but it is stiff, and when fairly considerable force was used even the band twisted with it and it still wouldn't budge. I did not want to force it too much, in case that is not the way, and breaks it.

The second thing is the Cateye EL-320 light. With only one button at the back it was not difficult to figure out how to operate it, but again while on the internet people refers to the push button (the one with a "push" label) underneath to open the battery compartment, I have been unable to open anything by pushing that button. Is there anything else I need to do to get to the batteries? Which way does the compartment open?

I tried my best looking for documentation on the Cateye website, but unfortunately none is available.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

Sounds like you are doing right with the strap... maybe a squirt of wd40 might help loosen it.

To get the batteries out press the button underneath and slide the top cover back, might take a bit of effort if its not been done for a while.

I have a EL-300 and there the underneath button like thing is a screw.I undo the screw and then push it down to release the two sections.

The 'push' button is to get the lower pair of batteries out, if you haven't slid the cover off first it won't do you much good. Just put your thumb on the top edge of the cover where the little 'bumps' are, press down gently and then ease your thumb back. There is a knack to it, but it's easy once you've got it.

The mounts can be a bit stiff- the strap should pull out once you've loosened the knob enough.
