Itching to get back on my bike's

needed a front light for my daily commute so treated my self to a Cateye el530 from Merlin Cycles at a very good value £22.50 all in , arrived very quick , impressed with the service and look of the actual light .

Today was the first dark commute using the light and ok its not as bright as come of the cree units out there but i found it good enough for my commute , only gripe is original battery's only lasted 3 x 10 mile early morning rides so will see how good the next set last .

You really need a pack of Eneloops.

Don't go for the high capacity, get the rock solid stable ones that do 1800 charges.

Yes, with luck they should last forever. Those work very well at low temperatures and unlike alkaline do not suffer from lower capacity at a higher load .

Theoretically you lose 20% maximum brightness, but LED efficiency also increases. So it could be as low as a 10% loss.
