Catching-up with an old frame?

Hello experts - I have stripped and re-sprayed an old road bike I have had for 25+ yrs and I expect the frame was old then - it is my first 'project' comprising a lugless frame with a 6 digit frame number stamped across the bottom bracket at 6 o'clock '564244' (no other markings). With such a large number I expect it is not a revered classic, but please could anyone advise which maker manufactured it and the likely year?
