Cassette wobbles.

I had my bike on the stand earlier to clean the chain and I noticed that the cassette wobbles a little when the wheel is idling. Does anyone know what is causing that?

Ye they all do that in my experience. I don't know if its built in or not.

Cassette I think as the whole lot wobbles.

But why? Implies that the centreline of the freehub bearings and the hub bearings are cyclically misaligned (a tiny polar angle).

I borrowed a cousin's bike when I was on holiday in Scotland a few years ago. I went on a ride and discovered that the cassette was wobbling about. When I got home his brother took a look at the bike and discovered that there was a thin spacer missing. He had a spare one which he put on for me and that fixed the problem.

That'd do more than "wobble" without the 1.85mm spacer.

Might also have a Dura Ace cassette doing a death creak!!

Isn’t a 10 speed on 11 speed hub a 1mm spacer but a 7-9 speed is 1.85mm spacer or have I got that the wrong way round?
