Carrera virtuoso cassette

A mate of mine bought a carrera virtuoso about 6 months ago but really struggles on the hills and it's putting him off riding

He wants to get riding regular so I suggested changing his cassette from his 12-25 to a 12-28

I'm not entirely sure but I think his cassette is a shimano sora can anyone confirm that this is the correct cassette so I can tell him which one to buy

afaik the rear mech can take up to a 28 .
