Mate at work has a tdf but i reckon he needs a shorter stem , anyone happen to know whether its oversize and stem length on a large yellow TDF please?

I havent seen the bike although we work together he gets their later and leaves a bit earlier , popped into halfords on the way home and they only had the new version in stock and the website has no info .
If i could see the bike i could work it out as its easy to tell.
