Carrera Subway saddle

I bought Carrera subway Ltd from Halfords couple of weeks ago. Love everything about it so far. Been commuting on it for past 3 days now and really enjoying it. My only gripe is the saddle because my bum is hurting now. I don't know what would be the best course of action to fix it? Because its becoming painful now and hence ruining my pleasure somewhat. Shall I go and buy a new saddle or shall I just buy a gel saddle cover? As I've spent fair bit of money on bicycle and other accessories I'm on fairly tight budget here.

A gel cover will only make things worse. They are made by the devil himself those things.
If I remember rightly the saddle on a Subway is padded anyway. Try going for a harder saddle and a pair of padded cycling shorts. That should sort you out.

Plus, it does take a while for the ol' bum to get used to any saddle....

New Saddle

I just took a look at the 'Ltd' compared to my old Sub' One and the saddle looks a lot harder, butt saddles are funny things

The Charge Spoon saddle come highly rated by many members on here, myself included or the other alternative is the Madison Flux saddle, which is a direct copy of the charge spoon saddle but a little cheaper.

The carrera saddle is just a torcher device thought up by a lunatic

I got a flux to replace the one on my Boardman for the same reasons as you :-)

If you are new to cycling then don't change the saddle -it will take a while for your rear to get used to cycling.

Thanks for all your responses and priceless advise. I'll give myself another week or so to work out if my rear is getting used to the saddle. If not then I'll look at buying one of the suggested ones. I'll stay away from gel covers. Thank you

Hi Shaz,

As others have said - give it time as it takes your rear-end a while to adjust! Even a simple thing like changing a saddle can lead to a sore bum again as you adjust to the new one.

However, if you do decide to change your perch, I'd also recommend the Charge Spoon. First time I didn't have to let my backside re-adjust to a new saddle was when I got a Spoon. Instantly comfortable, despite its skinny looks.
