are the carrera's any good quality and is it just the initial build by hellfrauds 'staff' that let them down?
is it just a case of rebuilding everything when you get it home and then again after the first 100 or 200 miles?

Nothing wrong with the bikes, just take them away in the box and put together yourself.

Hi Ed,
I've found my carerra to be built to high standards, just not set up correctly!
If your happy to re adjust the gears, and brakes, then they are very good quality imo. The quality of the Tekro brakes and Shimano gears will be the same where ever!

Oh and I forgot, check over the whole bike your self, or even better build it yourself!

Here for rides.
We rode from London to John O'Groats in the company of a delightful young man on a Carrera. It coped without batting an eyelid, which is more than can be said of some of the more expensive mounts. What more needs be said?

I'd agree, if its set up nicely (like most bikes) its about the rider not the bike, bradley wiggins could out run be on a cheap apollo bike than me on his pinarello dogma any day!

They are a good quality lower end set of bikes. It's the Apollo bikes you need to watch.

Very impressed with both my kids bikes. The vengeance is good enough for Red and Black runs, stops on a sixpence and has Sram gears.

I've got the Carrera Vanquish cracking bike managed several thousand miles on it last year without any problems, Halfords built it for me and buggered it up, once I'd put it right then it was fine. I managed to keep up with the lads in my CC despite some of them having bikes costing 8 times more than mine. At the end of the season I stuck it into my LBS for a service and chose the top one available only to be rung back a few hours later and informed I didn't need to pay that much as the bike was in great shape.
