Hello all!

New to the forum but old at most other things.....

Recently bought a new project and trying to figure out what it is and a colour scheme for the restoration all input gratefully received.
Frame number is U5083 and original paint appears to be dark metallic brown. forks partly chromes and lugs are attractive. drop outs seem fairly ordinary however.
Pictures attached if they help.
Thanks in advance.

Brian

My first decent bike was a Carlton 10 bought in 1972/3 - don't know if this helps (not my actual bike pic') head you in the right direction.

Hi, was going to suggest this was a 'Ten' model, but on closer inspection it looks a little earlier, maybe something like a Corsa Strada, most probably late 60s, say around 67/68...

37 Pounds & 6 Shillings!

My Mum bought it for me for either my 16th or 17th birthday (hazy memory!) - quite a lot of money back then (1972/3).
I can't remember how much I paid. Just remember that I saved up my paper round money until I had enough. It arrived, in 1970, just before my 14th birthday - I took it on my first holiday alone, 10 days youth hostelling started while I was still 13. Met my family, for a day, for my birthday while I was away. Great time. Just how many 13/14 year olds would be allowed that nowadays?
