I have heard that you can do it on cycle trails by going up route 8 Taff Trail then branching off onto route 4 at Taffs Well.

Anyone done it? If so how far is it and is route 4 suitable for a beginner on a hybrid bike?

Ok then provided I keep a sharp eye out for work shy uncles and substandard aircadets :-) is a hybrid bike OK on the route 4 bit between TaffsWell and Caerphilly?

I would say yes, I ride a hybrid (Specialized Globe Comp) through lanes and trails of Kent with no problem at all. The tyres on my bike are Marathons 32's. And they seem to grip pretty good.

Hi Valleyoldboy. Yes there is. From Abercynon you leave the Taff Trail and pick up the Cynon Trail which takes you through Mountain Ash and Cwmbach on into Aberdare (there are a few sections that are not joined together yet). Once in Aberdare you follow the Cynon Trail (or Cynon Community Trail) into Hirwaun. If you need more detailed info please PM me.
