Hi Recently posted a thread looking for riders around caerphilly cardiff.

As usual with most posts did not get a response.

Im looking to meet more experienced cyclists who can help me with my climbing,

I did 25 miles before coming to caerphilly mountain where i admit the mountain beat me.

Does not help i struggle with a back problem.

I do not feel comfortable joining a cycling club yet.

Cycling is a passion and soon to become obsession so anyone similar out there please get in touch, the madder the better.

Hi Bruce and welcome to the forums.

I think Banjo replied to your post in the other section. It may be just that your specifying speeds makes potential companions a little nervous. I can recommend Banjo as a cycling companion, but he only turns on the real speed when the pub is on the horizon ;). I'm in Swansea, and some of the South Wales lot meet up occasionally for a ride (see the Informal Rides section), but it's a bit more relaxed about pace than you seem to be looking for. If you don't fancy club riding then maybe consider slowing down a bit to broaden the pool of potential cycling buddies?

Hello Bruce I did in fact reply to your earlier post ,you must have missed it.

I am only a beginner cyclist so couldnt teach anyone very much.

I did caerphilly mountain starting by Cardiff University so hit the hill on about 4 or 5 mile point.Puffed my way to the top without stopping but stopped to get my breath back before carrying on down into the town.

Lost a bit of fitness over the winter so would probably struggle on it right now.

Your likely to be be quicker than me by the sound of it but if you want to go for a ride some time no problem.

sure yea that sounds good, im not a fast rider i think the boardman bike i got does most of the work, i can keep up on flat just struggle to climb so i may do a few sessions up and down a decent hill,

Im not into a club for the pure reason it seems more of a day out than a training session.

Im not unsociable in any way though it may seem but unless i can feel a burn and the heart pounding i feel the ride is pointless.

Plus you get sense of achievment when you give it your all,

Im not knocking what anyone else does each to their own, but be interesting to meet other people,

I want to cycle from calais to south of france this year, obviously this will do done at leisure,

Ill stop blabbering now

clubs vary a lot .A touring club will make a day of it stopping for pub lunches etc a race orientated club will have different groups at different speeds.

Personally my work is too unsociable hours for me to go regullarilly with a club.

I have some days off next week ,will send you a private message (look for the number at the top of the page to the left of the sign out button)to see if we can find a suitable day/time.
