Hi all,

Looking to tap into the collective knowledge if you don't mind.

I have a Cannondale Alu Synapse which I love, how and ever, I do realise it's a bit of a compromise between speed and comfort over distance.

I would like a bike which can be used as a more racy option for shorter rides up to 30 miles or thereabouts. I like the look of the Giant Propel Advanced

http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant-propel-advanced-1.html?gclid=CO7bmpz4l80CFYEy0wodxawE4g

I can live with the orange.......

What are the competitors to the Giant and should I consider any of them for any particular reason.

And yes, I know I don't NEED the bike and theres a bit of magpie syndrome coming into it but hey, we only live once.

thanks in advance

That decathlon is disgusting....

Have a look at rose, canyon.....or even a custom build from ribble or planet x. You can sometimes get more bang for your buck from those bike suppliers
At least the seat stays won't break on the Decathlon, and it won't take 2 years to have it delivered ( broken probably ), by Yodel:whistle:.
I'm taking it from the "Decathlon ( with a full Campag groupset and wheels, and a stonkingly good frame) is disgusting", comment, that you've ridden it? No? Thought not.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...

That Decthlon may ride like a dream - but the frame is extremely ugly. Especially the area around the top of the seat tube . I wouldn't refuse it if it was given to me, but I'd find it impossible to actually spend my own money on it looking the way it does

Thanks everyone. Being shallow, I don't like the b'twin. They're a good bike, my wife has one and it has been grand.

I'm open to other brands but preferably one I could go and sit on before buying which rules out Planet X, Canyon and Ribble really with me being based in NI. I agree on the bang for buck thing though so won't entirely rule them out.

That willier is lovely indeed.

Anyone any further thoughts on the Giant? pros and cons? Any owners?

No...the comment is based on how it looks to my eyes "disgusting"

And for every story of broken delivered bikes, theres a story of full customer satisfaction.

Agreed the frame is an ugly shape especially that hideous lump on the back

The OP doesn't like it, the spec might be decent for the money, but personally there is no way I'd spend £1500 on a bike that looked like that from a chain store

The Willier looks ok, the giant not so much, the ribble is also pig ugly, I just don't like those square seatposts on any bike! The orange details are the best bits!

Have to agree I dont find that Mach 720 a pretty bike, i know it comes well specced for the price but it just looks "Funny" in saying that i look in the mirror and see Steve Mcqueen, Mrs Mik reckons its more Steve McClaren
