Hi, I am about to upgrade componenets on my Specialized allez 16 2010 and was wondering what would be the better option for the following:-

View product variations Easton EC70 Carbon Seatpost 350mm 27.2
Cat. code: 186935-0
The Easton EC70 Seatpost is a CNT-composite post with TaperWall design and an aluminium head to save weight and provide comfort and durability

or

Profile Design Fast Forward Seatpin 27.2 mm
Cat. code: 120587-0
The Pro Design Fast Forward Seatpin positions your saddle further forward to enable a more powerful aerodynamic position and can turn an average road bike in to a Triathlon machine

Thanks

You have two polar opposites there - one with set-back and one with set-forward.

With carbon seatposts you can get away with having no set-back -ie the clamp is in line with the post.

Basically the more forward clamp enables the seat to be moved forwards and gives a bit more comfort if you are just pressing down on the pedals in a tt. The set-back post on modern bikes (given the seat tube angle) takes the seat too far back IMHO and emphasises the pulling up on the pedals although it does offer greater comfort.

So I'd opt for one in the middle assuming comfort factors are not a priority.

something like this one (zero offset it is called)

Personally, I can't see past Thomson seatposts, I had an inline one but am now on the lookout for a set-back one at a decent price. NOt sure if Halfrauds can get them but well worth a look

The Easton would be a definite upgrade but that Profile Design one looks very much like a downgrade IMHO. There are better alloy posts for that price.
