Read a lot about pros and cons with owing a carbon bike but just read this with regards a cube bike which has this fitted

FSS Frame Save System: To protect our high-end aluminium frames, they are built with the CUBE Frame Save System replaceable derailleur hanger. The thread is in the hanger and not in the frame as usual. In case of a crash, this hanger can be easily and quickly replaced by a new one.

do carbon bikes have anything fitted that will stop potential damage from occurring or minimise the effects of a crash.

Does seem like reasonable idea, but I wonder why Cube don't use the system on their carbon frames?

I've never heard of anyone else using it, but then I've never read of a CF frame suffering damage because the bolt on the hanger stripped the frame threads in a crash. TBH, if you are the type who worries about carbon fibre don't buy it. There are alu frames out there which are just as good and you won't spend your life having kittens every time you see a scratch.

I take it that the Cube is a road bike? Rear hangers are pretty much standard on mountain bikes because of the increased likelyhood of impact damage. Not really the kind of thing to worry about much on a road bike tbh.

I'm a little confused here! Replaceable rear mech hangers right? ALL bikes have these fitted these days whether carbon or Alu! This is nothing new.

Ah yes - some bikes will have them - my Ribble carbon frame had a separate replaceable drop out - the reason being that this is one of the weakest parts on a bike and will snap easily..which is what I found out when I took a corner and crashed- the dropout had snapped - thankfully it was replaceable and meant the rest of the frame wasn't affected.

Still sounds like Cube are trying to give buyers some marketing gumpf.

Thanks for all info, I was not losing any sleep over this and I now think this maybe is a little bit of a advertising ploy to hoodwink some people into thinking they(cube) have come up this idea themselves and incorporated it into their brand, live and learn.

Er... they do! From what I can tell they have this system on all of their road & XC/FS frames, they seem to have stopped pushing it as a feature as they have more interesting things to shout about.

Either I misunderstood the OP's question of everyone else has misunderstood Cubes "innovation".

I took it to mean that Cube were bolting the hanger to the frame with the bolt head against the frame and the threaded bit on the hanger itself as opposed to the other way round which is the norm, figuring this would be less likely to damage the frame itself in the event of a spill.

Virtually ever frame this side of a BSO has a replaceable hanger now.

That is exactly what they've done... on every single cube bike I looked at on their site... so when you put it on everything from your lowest spec bike up you no longer shout about it.
