I am looking at buying a 2nd hand carbon bike which has 2 chips in the frame, each about the size of a pea. Should these chips be treated/repaired or is it OK to leave them.

I used to sail a dinghy and all chips, etc would be repaired, but a cycle shop I spoke to suggested it was probably OK to leave them.

I was always advised to treat any blemish to the finish of a carbon frame. I had a snapped spoke cause some scratching to the rear of the BB shell area on my Cayo Pro a few months ago. It only seemed to damage the lacquer, but I still touched it up with some clear lacquer, and it's been fine ever since, and FYI, in the scheme of carbon frame riders, I'm a very large guy - 6' 5" and 18 stone+
