Carbon bike and Seat post, do i need to use any compound?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice, I have a new carbon road bike and it has a carbon seat post, I want to lower the seat post and i was wondering if I should use anything to to prevent them from sticking to each other, like grease I use when putting on pedals?

I have ordered and a Torque wrench so i don't over tighten it, and need to know if i need to buy anything else.

Carbon paste available from most LBS

As it's new it should already have some carbon paste on it which should be fine for your adjustment.

If it hasn't then refer to BigAl68 above

PS: carbon paste is a bit like a light grease but if you rub it between your fingers it will feel course/gritty.

It's this that creates a friction interface, (oooh get me!), between the post and the frame that allows it to both grip and yet still release it for removal.

THIS is the sort of stuff you need if and when you do have to buy some
