car alarm adjustment...

My car alarm is a pain in the wotsits. You only have to walk closely past it slowly or stand too close to it for the alarm to go off.

Can the sensitivity of an alarm be adjusted? I'm intuitively guessing that there are 2 sensors/adjusters on it - one to trigger the alarm based on car movement and another to trigger the alarm based on nearby object proximity (or am I talking rubbish?).

Anyone ever adjusted their alarm settings? How did you do it? Mine's a factory-fitted one for an Avensis.

Dunno, but maybe if you lock up with the key only, the alarm system will not be activated
