Can't take pedal off using a wrench?

I got one of the pedals off no problem while the other one won't budge.

You are doing it the right way - right hand anti clock undo (normal), left clockwise undo.

I have one of those spanners with adjustable width I am definitely doing it the right way.

It's the right one and I am doing it anti-clockwise.

Check if there is hex key socket at the end of the thread on the inside of the crank

Bigger leverage - might be difficult if you haven't got a shed/garage full of handy crap ! The end of the my garden hoe fits nicely over my adjustable spanner to create a 1.5m long one !

I don't have a hex key.

Put gears to lowest ratio
Put crank at 2:00 forward up.
Put spanner on at 10:00 rearwards up.
Apply brakes
Tread on spanner and gently transfer weight. Dont stomp.
