I wonder if you could offer an opinion on this bike for me please? It's up for sale for £325 and I'm very interested.

I'm not sure about the wheels, and how robust they are compared to normal wheels, for longer distance riding?

It has a small ding in the toptube which I'm waiting for the pics of, and specs are below. I'm inclined to think it's a very good deal? If anyone would care to disabuse me, I'd be grateful!

"Cannondale R800 Optimo Alu frame. Carbon fork. X Large, straight top tube 59cms C to C. Truvative triple with nine speed 12/26 cassette. Cannondale bars, stem, seat post. 105 brake levers and front mech. Ultegra rear mech. Gipiemme wheels. Colour grey, white, silver.

The bike has new cables, cassette and chain and I've just stripped and rebuilt it. There is a small 'ding' in the top tube but nothing that would put a serious buyer off. "

Even if the wheels don't suit you it's a steal at that price. Those are nice bikes. The wheels are probably fine but if you find they're not you can replace them.[/quote]

Unless the ding is really bad, buy it! That's a good price on a very nice bike.

I've arranged to go up on saturday morning to get it, and the guy is sending the pic of the dent tomorrow morning. I may postif here if I'm in any doubt.

I ride with someone who has those wheels - been problem free. I wouldn't hesitate. Nice slice fork etc, bargain so long as it's all sound.

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow, all being well. The ding turned out to be just a heavy scratch, and it looks great.

It may be a bit big for me, but I'm inclined to try it, and sell it on, if it is. From the reaction, it sounds like I could my money back...!
