Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm looking to commute to uni (9 miles each way) 3 days a week and work 2 days a week. It's my first road bike, and managed to get a 2nd hand one (which hasn't been used at all) for £400. Is this a good deal?

Quick Google shows that 2005 models retailed at £900 and as far as I know, Cannondales are good. I'd be well happy with that spec for £400.

A mate has one - it's a reasonably good frame which can stand a bit of upgrading should you ever want to do more than just commuting (wheels etc). If it's in good nick I'd say £400 is a good price to pay.

It's difficult to comment on price without knowing the age, condition and rough mileage of the bike.

I would probably push to pay a little bit less than £400, more like £300-50.

It's 3 years old, but completely unused - been kept in the attic for that time. So as brand new - pedals not even been put on yet.

Bargain then - there haven't been any major developments to render the kit obsolete.

The frame is stiff and relatively heavy so you may find that the vibration from the road is a tad excessive especially on a poor surface but you will get used to it. Personally if it's got the Gippieme wheels I'd use them as winter wheels and look to upgrade next spring.
