Hi guys. I'm completely nrw to road bikes and am have been recommended and opting for the Cannondale Caad8 Sora. I've found the 2012 model for £750 but the 2011 model for £500 but also been told the new model is an overhaul. Is the 2012 model worth the extra money?

The CAAD has been an awesome bike since it's first incarnation, FYI, the last aluminum frame bike to win Le Tour was indeed a CAAD

I'm not familiar with the specs of the two models you mention, but rule of thumb would say buy the best you can afford.

On the other hand if you've got something better to spend £250 on the 2011 bike will still be a cracker.

As you've no comparison base I'm confident whichever one you choose will blow you away

The only spec difference I can see is the forks are carbon blade on the 2012
If you get nigh on the same bike for £500 I would say go for it unless you can get the 2011 tiagra or 105 in you spend bracket.

I bought a CAAD 8 Tiagra I got it for a steal of £500 compared to the 2012 of £950 its perfect i use it often, for fitness training for my mountain biking! its my first road bike since a Raleigh racer when i was 14, So its amazing, very very light and can shift! so if i was you pay £500 and buy something else with the rest!
