Still on the hunt for my first road bike. Had decided on the Triban 500 from Decathlon, but they never had my size in stock and I found their staff to be disinterested and unhelpful when I was enquiring by phone and in person. So I changed my Cycle scheme voucher to an Evans store. Quite fancy either one of these Cannondales.

Very little difference in price and in spec, slightly different frame geometries so what's the received wisdom on this? As a new-comer which would suit me best? Should I just pay the extra £40 for the Synapse (I must say I like that white colour)?

Also what frame size would you recommend for someone who is 5' 9" with a 30" inside leg? I'll obviously try it in store and get their opinion but good to have something in mind.

Cheers.

Don't think you'll go far wrong with either of those, choose the Synapse if you want a slightly less racy position (not that the Caad is particularly racy anyway)

I would guess you'd be wanting a 54, I'm at that borderline height between 52 and 54 at 5' 7ish, went for the 54 but could easily have fit the 52.

Go make use of Evans test ride. Pay a £50 deposit and they'll get your size in, no obligation, refund if not right. Friend of mine ordered a ladies synapse last night like this

As Above imho.

The Caad has higher gearing so the Synapse may be better for you 30/28 as opposed to 34/26 on the CAAD.

I am 6 foot tall and ride a 56 Synapse and a 56 Supersix.
