Hi,

I have a Cannondale Badboy with Maddux 700 32 hole wheels, I currently have slick road tyres on them but would like to put on some new tyres. Usage would consist of 50% road and 50% muddy trails. I'm new to bikes and specs, I'm guessing I can only go to 32 wide tyres?

I look forward to any advice, thanks.

The simplest way to determine the maximum width tyre you can fit is to measure the interior width of the rim and refer to the table towards the bottom of this page. If you want to get more technical, Google ETRO wheel size.

The other consideration is the clearance your frame has. I'm not familiar with the Badboy, but I think it's designed as a road bike, so even if your rims would take very wide tyres I suspect the frame wouldn't accommodate them.

A cyclo-cross tyre would probably be your best bet.

i think the bad boy is more of an urban bike and would be surprised if 35s are the max you could go to, but just remember that the wider and more knobbly the tyre format, the larger actual diameter itll have, ie a 32 slick will need far less clearance than a 32 cx tyre.
