Can you use vodca to clean the gears and chain @

New to cycling and i am no mechanic (wood is my thing ,Joiner by trade) I was given some vodca and given that i dont drink the stuff I need to put it to good use.
Alcohol spirits etc are supposed to be good cleaners so I thought ,why not for the bike ?
What do you think ?

Offer it to a mechanic, he'll clean up for you. Delivery on completion of work, obviously.

If you don't like vodka make it into Limoncello. Lemon flavored vodka, what's not to like .

Give the vodka away and spend all of the 3 quid or so required to by some proper cleaning stuff.

Had some given to me last winter. Best use was as a de-icer as it was undrinkable, paper label of the company logo that gave it to me should have been a clue. Think the accompanying bottle of whiskey appeared to be the same stuff but had at some point had been through an old teabag to give it colour.

On and off road today over Guisbrough moors and kildale.
Came home and did the full wash ,turtle wax car wash and vodca. This is one lucky bike.
Chain and gears look clean enough with the vodca treatment!!
