I'm going out tomorrow evening on the bus, so was wondering if you could take your bike on it so I don't have to get the bus back?

Thanks.

Arriva has let me take my bike on before, not sure if it was a one off though.

I think the general rule is something like - "If it rolls up into a neat little bundle and you can put it on the luggage rack, then you can take your bike on the bus." So it's a no.

Occasionally, some drivers are flexible - but certainly not something I'd rely on? I've done it once - a long while back. Tube blown out 20 miles from home, no spare, and pouring rain.

But there were a few drivers refused to let me on, before a "good guy" took pity, and broke the rules.

Don't have the right gear to cycle in the dark. They're either 60 A Roads, or 60 Country lanes.

right gear? how do you mean sir?

Generally no. But saying that I think it's down to the driver and how busy the time of day is. During the summer I had to get into Norwich to pick up a new bike and my mate wanted to come too and cycle back with me. This was 7.30am on a Saturday and when we asked the driver if she could bring the bike on the bus he said no so we started to walk away and he changed his mind and said OK because there was only a couple of other people on the bus. She stood the bike in the pushchair area.
