No, these are not compatible with a cassette. You'd have to use a screw on freewheel.

Beaten to it. I was going to say it depends what your 'cassette' type is, threaded or splined, AASHTA.

Also check that wheels in this price range don't have painted rims, I know some Raleigh one do, and they are great fun in the wet...............................NOT!

I need a new wheelset & I've come across these;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raleigh-M...cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item1c3a4b24de

It says for freewheel but I've got a cassette, can I still use these?

No,
Each wheel is tailored depending on the size of the bike and number of gears.

Typically you get freewheels for bikes with no gears, 6-8 speed wheels and then 9/10 speed wheels.

Oh and to complicate matters further you get rims for rim brakes and ones with a hub which can take disc brakes which don't fit the prior.

If you provide more information such as make and model of bike, wheel size, requirement we can point you in the right direction.

If it's any help I have these currently on my knockabout bike: link. Not quite as dirt cheap as the ones you linked to but they've been no trouble in the last 640 miles. I'm quite happy with them.:thumbsup:

I seem to recall you have a 7 speed cassette set up on your bike? If your bike doesn't already have one you'll need a spacer to fit a 7 speed cassette on to an 8/9 speed freehub (which is now the standard type).

unfortunately all I can tell you is the bike is a Peugeot Energy 100 mtb, 26" wheels, 7spd cassette with 3 chain rings. bit of a beginner in bike maintenance so not sure where to go with it but want to learn so I don't have to take it to lbs

I think it will be easier for me to post a few pics of what I currently have then you guys can advise. Phil I think they maybe the kind of wheels I'm looking for, money isn't a huge problem, but don't want to spend £100+ on a knockabout bike. Will post pics in the morning
