Put a rule across the brake tracks. That's as narrow as it goes.
In my shed, 21mm wide brake tracks with 22 mm tyres. In my spare room 19mm brake tracks with 20mm tyres.
IIRC, Bianchi in the eighties sold a bike with 19mm rims and 18mm tyres.

I ran 23's on the Focus Mares I had a couple of years ago, although the wheelset that came on it was the same DT Swiss wheelset that my Focus Cayo Pro came with.

I changed the tyres as the stock Nobbly Nics it came with were turning me into a go anywhere hooligan

I miss that bike TBH.

Or are the rims too fat?

I've a 2013 caadx and fancy using it as a jack of all trades

i have 2012 caadx with the maddux drx6000 rims which according to etrto shouldnt have the 35c tyres on that comes with the bike as the rims are 14mm internal size and 28mm is the maximum , on the plus side if you have the same wheels 21mm tyres will be minimum you can fit I think so 23mm will be fine:thumbsup:

I ran 23's on my Boardman CX without a single problem for 12 month ... I only switched to 25's after the front tyre blew out with a bit of metal through the side wall .. 25's is all the shop had left in stock.

Yes... But you may well flatten the tyre profile so could well be better off in terms of performance and handling with a 25 or even 28.

Although I'm assuming you have quite chunky rims fitted.

Pictures of said new bike...... Come on.
Thanks everyone

It's not new per say, I picked it up in Oct, but with my other issues, last week was the first time I rode it.

It's a 2013 caadx and as smokey says, the tyres turn you into a go anywhere nutter anyway, just before the spds were fitted and tyres inflated

I think you'll be fine. Pop into Evans and ask, they are usually pretty helpful and seeing as they sell Cannondale they should know.

Like the bike. I planned to buy one this year but ended up buying a 2012 CaadX 105 off eBay in January.

My plan is to get a second set of wheels to use for road only and keep the Sammy Slicks on the stock wheels. Having said that, the bike seems pretty quick with the 35mm tyres so I haven't bothered getting the second set yet.
